Position Summary
:
The Club Director is responsible for the direction and management of overall daily operations of a club under the control of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands, Inc. The position's primary concern is a comprehensive, outcome driven program and delivery of service. Responsibilities falling under this purview include: supervision and training of staff (direct and indirect reports), program development and delivery, facility management, personnel issues, community relations, volunteers, and membership administration.
Essential Functions
:
Leadership:
Ensure a healthy and safe environment with programs and services that prepare youth and staff for success
Evaluate, plan and implement quality improvement objectives
Mentoring and coaching staff
Oversee club professionals for delivery of program objectives and standards
Implement grants and meet grant requirements which can vary by location and year
Oversight of spending based on grant requirements
Management:
Complete the Club Director section of onboarding process including: Interviewing and submitting paperwork utilizing the approved recruiting tool
Create and maintain a weekly schedule for staff including vacations, meetings, and adjustments
Appraise staff performance regularly and provide constructive feedback and redirection where necessary
Implement monthly trainings both online and in person that correlate to the principles of youth development
Ensure the completion and submittal of reports and projects requested by administrative staff
Management of the club's food programs
Ensure attendance and program data is uploaded using City Span/KidTrax systems
Programming:
Manage the development of new programming that is relevant and in line with the principles of youth development, Boys & Girls Clubs of American guidelines and BGCM expectations
Apply Program Quality Assessment (PQA) tool to the improvement of the implementation of youth programming
Lead the coordination of special events for assigned club and support organizational special events
Intermediary:
Encourage the building of positive relationships between clubs and families
Act as a liaison between organization and community at large
Administrative:
Monitor budgets to ensure good stewardship of funds
Approve and Submit POs, receipts and bills per BGCM procurement requirements
Attend regular meetings and trainings; submitting all necessary reports as required
Complete all club employee documents including: New hire packets, change of status, administrative actions, training folders
Computer Literate - Develop, organize and complete tasks and projects using software programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Qualifications
:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent work experience
3 - 5 years or more of Youth development Experience strongly preferred
1 year of management experience
Youth programming experience preferred
Experience working with and demonstrating compassion and/or sensitivity toward vulnerable populations and individuals with diverse backgrounds present in the organization's service population, both individually and in groups
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies
Must be able to effectively navigate and function within a virtual environment
Must effectively and comfortably manage in a virtual environment:
+ Must serve as a technology advocate and understand the tools available and optimal methods to ensure utilization of technology is promoted at every opportunity
+ Must be able to inspire trust and motivate virtual teams using strong communication, developmental and interpersonal skills and an ability to adapt to different virtual platforms
+ Must successfully guide virtual teams, communicate clear goals, and facilitate problem solving Must be proficient in the use of Windows, Internet, Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access or other database software proficiency), Zoom or other Virtual Meeting platforms, and Google Platform (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Ability to earn and maintain mandatory CPR & First aid certification
Maintain a valid driver's license and meet eligibility requirements to drive a BGCM vehicle
Must be able to pass a drug test, criminal and driving records investigation
The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data
Must have reliable transportation to get to sites or meetings
Must have regular and reliable attendance
