TruNorth Federal Credit Union is seeking a Collector to join their growing team in Ishpeming. TruNorth Federal Credit Union is a $215 million credit union with 2 branch locations and over 40 employees. This is a full-time nonexempt position reporting to the Vice President-Member Service & Collections. This position is primarily responsible for reviewing and researching late and delinquent accounts, contacting members to resolve delinquencies, assisting members in making arrangements for payment, processing charge offs for accounts deemed uncollectable, and initiating appropriate legal action when needed. This position requires a significant amount of phone contact with members facing significant financial challenges while ensuring the credit union\xe2\x80\x99s professional image is maintained. Primary Responsibilities:
Monitor accounts and various reports daily to determine accounts in late and delinquent status that require action.
Contact delinquent members by phone, mail, or electronic methods to identify reasons for delinquency and assist members in developing a plan to bring accounts current.
Trace and locate members and members\xe2\x80\x99 friends, neighbors, relatives, and employers to obtain information including public notices for information.
Maintain collection files and documentation of daily collection activities.
Notify co-signers regarding status of delinquent accounts.
Prepare monthly reports relating to credit union delinquency and related write-offs.
Maintain allowance for loan loss spreadsheet and update ledger cards.
Correspond with attorneys for matters requiring legal attention.
File claims, attend court hearings, and coordinate with trustees for all bankruptcy filings.
Determine when collateral should be repossessed or foreclosed on and serve as a liaison with attorneys and agencies in handling repossession of collateral.
Investigate and correct discrepancies in loan applications and credit bureau reports.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma Minimum Experience: One year of customer service-related experience Preferences: Experience in a financial institution Collection experience Post high school education or training Compensation: Minimum $18/hour.
