Job Description

Wright Brothers, The Building Company is seeking a qualified commercial construction estimator. Responsibilities for this essential role includes estimating construction projects, following up on project leads, contributing to company marketing efforts, and assisting in negotiations. The qualified candidate will manage the bidding process effectively, foster strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers and play a pivotal role in shaping our future projects.

Estimating Duties



Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects. Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes. Utilize construction estimating software such as Bluebeam, Excel, and Sage Estimating (Timberline), to create comprehensive estimates. Evaluate labor, material, and equipment costs to determine project expenses. Identify potential cost-saving measures and value engineering opportunities. Present estimates to clients and negotiate contract terms. Maintain accurate records of estimates, change orders, and project documentation.

Project Development Duties



Find leads on upcoming projects and follow up with owners and/or architects. Provide information for company marketing materials as needed. Assist with updating project and personnel files. Assist in market research.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



Basic knowledge of personal computers and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Timberline. Knowledge of construction materials and methods. Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and specifications. Ability to produce accurate estimates from preliminary plans and sketches. Ability to communicate effectively with owners, clients, architects, subcontractors, and co-workers. Knowledge of modern business communications, including styles and forms of letters, memoranda, minutes, proposals, and reports. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.

Required Experience



Proven experience in construction estimating or related field. Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices. Familiarity with construction industry standards, codes, and regulations. Proficiency in using estimating software such as Bluebeam. Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other technical documents. Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
