Those ineligible locations are Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.If you currently reside in an ineligible state, you may relocate to an eligible state and be considered for an internshipDedicate a minimum of 24 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks, up to 40 hours a week. Within Culture & Communications, the Public Relations Team develops strategic communication plans for a variety of Company initiatives, such as new city and flight introductions; music and entertainment integrations; marketing product launches; executive platform amplification; crisis planning; and financial results communication. The Team prepares written communications (news releases, media alerts, blogs, social media content, etc.); assists with day-to-day event coordination; creates engaging content for the Company\xe2\x80\x99s social media channels; and oversees Southwest\xe2\x80\x99s Media relationships.Duties and Responsibilities:The duties and responsibilities of the Public Relations Intern may include but are not limited to:Attend cross-functional meetingsComplete special projectsDraft blog content, press releases, media pitches, memos, and lettersAssist with daily communications on the Southwest Airlines corporate social media channels, and coordinate editorial calendar for online contentUpdate and edit media lists using tools like Cision and Muck RackParticipate in event planning, speech preparation, and escorting news crewsAssist with strategic communications planningBe involved in possible travel opportunitiesBasic Qualifications:High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageMust have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring processEducation:Progress towards degree, major, or minor in Communications, Public Relations OR similar degreeProgress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree preferredTo be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as defined by your university) at the time of application and during the internshipAt least one semester remaining at the time the internship ends is preferredMinimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of applicationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
