Community-Based Therapist

About the Position:

A clinical adaptation of Multi-Systemic Therapy, MST-EA is a promising practice that provides intensive individual treatment for transition age youth (ages 17-26) with both a recent history of criminal involvement and behavioral health challenges. MSTE-EA (1) is delivered in the community (clients\xe2\x80\x99 homes, schools, neighborhoods) to ensure ecological validity and treatment generalization, (2) occurs with a high level of intensity and frequency (often three or more sessions per week), (3) incorporates treatment interventions that are strongly supported and informed by research, and (4) places a high premium on approaching each client/family as unique. The Jewish Board is currently seeking a therapist for our MST-EA team servicing the New York City metropolitan area, Therapist duties include assessment, treatment, and collaboration with families, clients, and community agency staff. Therapists are provided with high levels of clinical training including weekly group supervision and consultation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments on referred young adults.
  • Conduct mental status exams with clients (as needed)
  • Develop trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally-component treatment plans in collaboration with the client and his/her social network
  • Engage primary caregiver(s) and/pr other key social network members in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
  • Facilitate home- and community-based treatment with clients 3-4 times per week as determined by the MST-EA Supervisor and Consultant
  • Ensure client and social network safety by conducting regular safety assessments and developing comprehensive safety plans.
  • If applicable, administer urine drug screens to clients to monitor substance use and treatment progress.
  • Oversee client progress and ensure proper discharge planning
  • Maintain professional documentation of treatment that demonstrates adherence to the MST-EA model and the analytical process
  • Maintain frequent communication with referral sources and provide monthly client progress reports as well as final discharge summaries
  • Participate in all trainings, including the initial MST-EA training, bi-annual booster trainings, clinical in-services, and agency and funder required trainings.
  • Participate in consultation, group, and individual supervision meetings weekly
  • Be available and on call 24/7 to provide clinical support to participants and their family of care.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with funders, referral sources, and community providers
  • Participate in all meetings as required by the MST-EA program and agency
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures
Qualifications:
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Behavioral Health, Counseling, Social Work, or related field required.
  • License required. LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAT accepted. Able to accept permit-eligible candidates on case-by-case basis.
  • Experience with adolescents preferred
  • Experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy required
  • Experience with Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing preferred
  • High energy level and superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and be able to provide transportation
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Employment: Full-time.

Location: The MST-EA Therapist is required to provide in-home or in-community clinical services. This means the candidate will be required to travel throughout the boroughs in order to do so. Travel reimbursement will be provided.

Salary: $60,000-65,000
