Definition
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing psychological assessment, crisis intervention, and social services linkage in the community setting, and as part of a public safety response team; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work

Provides direct community-based crisis response and outreach, psychosocial assessment, counseling, and social services support and linkage with residents experiencing behavioral health and/or addiction crisis;
Responds as part of a public safety team to provide therapeutic and behavioral health-oriented services;
Provides crisis intervention, counseling, social services support, and de-escalation techniques via direct outreach and response and/or telecommunications as within a call center environment; provides assessments in-person and via phone to determine lethality concerns;
Promotes and disseminates information and services throughout the community, including alcohol/other drug misuse or dependency, behavioral health matters, and social needs;
Determines level of care and stabilization needs; provides clinical assessment of needs and utilizes current therapeutic principles and techniques;
Conducts linkage to community-based social services such as housing, food, and transportation; educates program participants and their families about available resources;
Provides brief case management and necessary follow-up with community members during crisis situations; provides transition and/or release of cases to longer-term resources;
Responds to requests for assistance from the public, law enforcement personnel, and community social service organizations as requested;
Operates a computer and telecommunications equipment to enter information for case management, generate reports, and keep electronic records;
May be requested to appear at scenes of crimes or other intense or escalated environments;
May be assigned to serve as a member of an Incident Command System (ICS) Team, or a similar public health response team, which may include the conduct of operations on a 24/7 basis at remote locations.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of valid State of Ohio licensure by the Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), AND one (1) year of experience providing counseling services. Substitution(s): A master\'s degree may be substituted for the one (1) year of experience.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator\'s license.
Some positions allocated to this classification may require proficiency in a language or languages other than English.
SPECIAL NOTE:
This position may require work in hazardous situations involving response with public safety forces to acute violence involving homicide, assault, etc. Incumbents may be required to don body armor and other personal protective equipment.
