Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Community Health Representative.

are seeking a motivated bilingual community health representative. The candidate will work with Dr. Lu Hu and assist with the recruitment, enrollment, research data collection, and study coordination activities involving culturally tailored health education and coaching to improve diabetes management and prevention among Chinese American communities in New York City. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to project supervisors.
  • Keeping participants motivated and engaged in the study.
  • Conducting phone calls with study participants.
  • Conducting interviews and surveys with study participants
  • Providing individual counseling and support; assisting study participant with goal-setting.
  • Keeping organized study logs and data files, and tracking of recruitment and intervention activities
  • Assisting participants in tracking medical appointments, medication, and coordination of care.
  • Assisting with development and translation of tailored and translated flyers and other study materials
  • Participating in learning exchanges and trainings, including community health worker (CHW) trainings.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration. Ability to work well under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma and minimum of 1 year related experience in an office setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Effective Oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in public health, sociology, psychology, health care administration, social work or closely-related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $45,541.59 - $49,995.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
