Community Integration Specialist/assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and energetic Community Integration Specialist/ Personal Assistant to support a fun-loving high school student with disabilities to engage in social, home, and community activities, develop increased independence, and achieve their personal goals. The responsibilities include providing support during social outings, daily activities, and skill-building, and ensuring a safe, supportive, and enriching experience that promotes inclusion and personal growth. The role requires building a caring and trusting relationship with the teen, providing emotional support and fostering a positive and encouraging environment. Consistency and reliability are essential.

Community Engagement

:

Assist in identifying and facilitating participation in peer activities, community events, recreational activities, and volunteer opportunities. Support communication and development of friendships with peers. Provide transportation to and from community events, classes, and appointments. Support the development of skills, such as self-care, communication, planning, and relationship building.

Advocacy and Support

:

Act as an advocate, and support self-advocacy, to ensure the their voice is heard and respected and that they are included in activities and social settings. Encourage self-advocacy and informed decision-making. Build a caring and trusting relationship with the teen, providing emotional support and fostering a positive and encouraging environment.

Personal Assistance

:

Support with daily living activities such as meal prep, clean up, and organization. Assist with personal care needs as required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Encourage and promote independence in all tasks.

Safety

:

Ensure a safe environment at all times. Recognize and address barriers to participation in activities, social opportunities, and community life. Monitor health and well-being, reporting any concerns to family.

Communication and Documentation

:

Document activities, progress, and any incidents as required. Collaborate with other support professionals and service providers. Maintain clear and open communication with family members and other team members.

Qualifications:



Experience working with individuals with disabilities required. Experience working with children, teens, or young adults is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs and environments. Reliability and commitment to providing consistent support is critical. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in social work, special education, ABA, or related fields is a plus.

Requirements:



Flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings and weekends, depending on activity schedules. Engaging in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Occasional lifting or physical support may be required.

Benefits:



$35-55 per hour, depending on experience Paid sick time Medical insurance (depending on number of hours) we serve.

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 50 per week
