Position Highlights

The Community Outreach Professional II (COPII) position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of strategies within the USDA NIFA HSI 5-year grant located in Cochise County. The COPII will use innovation and creativity to solve problems and meet the needs of the diverse community within the program scope, review programmatic progress with the supervisor, develop and maintain multiple complex community relationships, implement, and provide logistics for the Healthy Community Committees, the Leadership Academy, and the Annual Summit. This position will work with farmers and ranchers to further support community and population-specific policy, systems, and environmental change initiatives using the collective impact model to improve food systems and overall community health.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with food production systems and community organizations in Cochise County, assist in the implementation of policy, systems, and environmental changes with partners to specifically target the Healthy Community Committees to improve food access and community health, guided by the USDA NIFA HSI grant, and health equity.
• Provide technical and logistical assistance to the Healthy Community Committees and community partners throughout Cochise County, which may include researching grant funding, strategic planning, community development, researching topic areas, and identifying resources.
• Deliver, recruit participation, and organize classes, for the Leadership curriculum to target audiences, maintaining curriculum fidelity and integrating community engagement, trauma-aware principles, and a health equity lens.
• Assist with data-gathering activities as required. Enters and reports appropriate data as required by the USDA NIFA HSI grant.
• Create and deliver informational tools such as fliers, presentations, social media posts, e-newsletters, and/or radio snippets.

• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of trauma awareness and equity principles.
• Skilled at maintaining flexibility and adapting creatively to meet program requirements when met with barriers.
• Ability to build partnerships with other professionals, food producers, and organizations.
• Ability to work semi-independently and take the initiative to move forward with program activities.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends when needed.
• Skilled in various computer software/programs such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Adobe Express, and social media platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer bilingual in English and Spanish.
