Responsibilities & Essential Duties

Construction Design Professional\'s primary responsibilities are to design and analyze various structures, provide detailed construction drawings, collaborate internally and externally with other professionals to balance various aspects of the project like safety to design, provide best practices and determine cost-effective solutions.

Area of Expertise Requirements
  • Good understanding of building systems, construction materials/methods/techniques for new and existing structures.
  • Assist in the development of architectural solutions to meet project specifications.
  • Provide advice and consultation to clients on architectural matters, including compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Provide clarifications and in-field solutions to the clients.
  • Prepare architectural reports and progress narratives.
  • Thorough understanding and use of National and Virginia building codes.
  • Assist with architectural tasks for projects in construction.
  • Proficient with computers and design software (i.e. Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office)
  • Design building systems and components for steel, concrete, masonry and wood construction.
  • Prepare construction documents.
  • Submit documents for building permits in accordance with applicable building codes.
  • Work together with other architects and engineers on Lantz projects.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, working drawings, develops details and edits specifications, estimates and proposals.
  • Additional areas of expertise if licensed engineer;
  • Provide structural engineering support for Lantz projects under construction.
  • Make site visits to evaluate the structural condition of existing structures.
  • Calculate loads, stresses, pressures, etc. on building systems or components.
  • Consult internally on new and existing projects.

Required Education and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of building design experience
  • Bachelor Degree in relevant field of study (i.e. Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Design, Interior Design, Construction)
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree or a Master\'s degree in structural engineering or civil engineering.
  • Structural Engineering license in Virginia & West Virginia
Expected Hours of Work: Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40+ hours per week.
