Job Description

: Construction Estimator is responsible to project and control construction costs by collecting and studying information; controlling all construction costs from the beginning phase to final.

The construction estimator must deal with all members of the project in a courteous and respectful manner. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and levels and quality of service. They must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a courteous and respectful manner.

Summary

: Granite Excavation is seeking a Construction Estimator. Granite is a family owned construction company located in Cascade, ID, as well as operates out of the Boise area. We specialize in earthmoving, underground utilities, paving, and miscellaneous concrete structures in the public and private sectors. We also aim to provide turnkey GC packages in multiple private industries, as well as acting as General Contractors on complex public works projects. Applicant needs to have a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a drug test. Granite is an equal employment opportunity company.

Primary responsibilities

Verifiable work history

Interprets blueprints and specs

Attends pre project meetings and asks appropriate questions given by the estimator.

Travels to turn in bids, obtains permits, or any other project related item the estimator may have.

Demonstrate personal commitment to Policy and Procedures, Safety and Environment Policies and the ability to Manage Personnel.

Capable of working on multiple tasks simultaneously, possess proactive approach to decision process and has the ability to carry out activities.

Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities.

Preparing construction budget by studying plans; completing takeoffs for quantities; evaluating updated plans for changes.

Evaluating offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.

Follows up on bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials.

Preparing special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends as needed by the estimator.

Maintains quality service by following organization standards.

Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
