About the Role:

The Solar Pre-Construction Services Manager is responsible for managing pre-construction services during pre-award and pre-mobilization phases of solar power projects.

This position has the opportunity to sit at any of our following district locations: Minnetonka, MN; Grand Rapids, MI; Richmond, VA.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate pre-bid meetings and attend pre-bid site visits
  • Manage in-house engineering team in the development of solar power plant designs
  • Oversee in-house engineering team with energy production modeling
  • Complete detailed estimate project costs for multiple divisions, including detailed quantity take-offs
  • Develop project schedules inclusive of manpower loading graphs and cash flow/S-curves
  • Develop proposal documents for customer RPF responses
  • Facilitate and maintain effective working relationships with subcontractors and engineering during all phases of the bidding, analysis and estimating processes
  • Create and maintain effective working relationships with customers, authorities having jurisdictions and other outside parties through project permitting
  • Manage construction phase project teams through pre-construction activities
  • Manage construction teams in resolving design and or constructability challenges during construction
  • Other duties as assigned

About You:

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively-responsible experience in estimating, purchasing and/or project management
  • 5 to 7 years of solar and/or electric power industry experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or similar field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of construction project management
  • Advanced knowledge of PVSyst, Helioscope and other power industry modeling tools
  • Advanced knowledge of solar project development
  • Excellent knowledge of Lean construction concepts and practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving
  • In-depth conceptual estimating skills, including ability to understand, price define and explain estimate content and approach
  • Proven ability to organize and manage several projects at various stages of development
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite programs and estimating applications

  • Salary Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
