Summary
Estes Energetics is actively seeking a skilled Construction Superintendent to join our manufacturing facilities near Minden and Bossier City, Louisiana. This facility is unique as the only domestic source of black powder and other critical chemicals. The Construction Superintendent will primarily be responsible for the planning, execution, and completion of a new chemical production facility that will produce critical chemicals for defense, pyrotechnics, and industrial uses. Secondary responsibilities will include managing other manufacturing and various projects in explosives, chemicals, and rocket motors. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in construction management, potentially in the chemical manufacturing or oil refinery industries. After construction and startup of the new facility, you will work closely with the production team to ensure its safe and efficient operation. Safety, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are especially important in all aspects of the job.
Essential Functions
Develop and manage project plans to support project timelines in the 18\xe2\x80\x9336-month time range.
Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders including US government representatives and suppliers.
Interface with and oversee contractors for both renovation and construction.
Work closely with engineering and operations teams in multiple company locations.
Manage and maintain records of budgets and schedules.
Identify and mitigate risks to ensure safe operation of the chemical manufacturing facility.
Present to customers and partners on project status and plans.
Ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Competencies, Experience, and Education
Required
3 years of experience managing technical, engineering, construction or manufacturing projects.
Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders and balance competing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience analyzing project-related financial reports.
Experience developing and managing project budgets and schedules in relevant tools like Unanet, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project.
Experience identifying and mitigating risks.
Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses.
Be 21 years of age or older.
Pass pre-employment drug test and health screening.
Pass State and Federal background checks.
Strong analytical skills
Proficient with Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
Desired
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
5+ years of experience managing technical, engineering, or manufacturing projects.
Bachelor\'s degree in engineering or a related field.
Supervisory Responsibility
Yes, building up to a team of 5-10 people
Work Environment
The work will be primarily in an office and in a manufacturing environment. Some time will be spent in an industrial explosives manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Comfortable sitting, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Exposure to industrial machines, heat, cold, and explosives.
Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment.
Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location.
Travel
10-20%, particularly to the Colorado Springs area and to suppliers
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical workdays are a \xe2\x80\x985x8\xe2\x80\x99 schedule, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Employees are expected to work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Overtime may be required during busy periods.
