Work with the consumer lending, consumer real estate, and consumer credit card units to underwrite loans based on the bank's policies and defined lending authority.




Salary: $27.50/hour minimum. Job/salary offer would be commensurate with experience.




Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm




GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARY



Underwrites consumer loans, consumer real estate loans, and consumer credit cards based on credit policy and defined lending authority by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews new and existing customer consumer loans, consumer real estate loans, and consumer credit card requests; analyzes financial condition, credit data, and assesses risk to determine the most appropriate products; makes underwriting determinations within lending authority.

Manages existing loan and consumer credit card portfolio; modifies or extends loan terms or structure, as necessary, to protect bank's interest and minimize bank losses and exposure to losses.

Follows existing bank credit policies and procedures to ensure consumer loans, consumer real estate loans, and consumer credit card portfolios adhere to bank, compliance, regulatory and credit card industry standards, procedures, policies and requirements.

Identifies up-selling and cross-selling opportunities, and recommends additional loan products and services to branch personnel to discuss with customer; as necessary, may discuss additional consumer loan products directly with customers.

Communicates consumer lending decisions and advises branch personnel, lending officers and other staff, as necessary, on loan terms and conditions, procedures, credit policy, and compliance regulations.

Trains branch and other bank staff on taking consumer loan applications, interviewing loan applicants, identifying the need for and collecting additional documentation, discussing loan rates and terms, and closing approved loans, ensuring that the above practices are effective and compliant with bank credit policy and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Maintains awareness of various bank loan products; keeps informed of competitors' products and keeps appraised of trends and developments in the financial lending industry, Visa and MasterCard rules, regulations, and requirements.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor. '

COMPLIANCE EXPECTATIONS



Stay up to date on relevant laws and regulations and complete all compliance training on time. Ensure you and your delegates have adequate and current compliance training, and ensure training is completed on time. Maintain customer confidence and protect the bank's operations by identifying and protecting confidential information.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



Minimum:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field and two years banking, financial industry, or related experience; or, four years banking, financial industry, or related experience with eighteen months lending, credit analysis, underwriting or related experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.


Preferred:

Consumer loan underwriting, credit analysis, or lending experience; knowledge of consumer lending regulatory compliance.



OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:



Ability to operate a 10-key calculator by touch required. Windows based word processing and spreadsheet experience required.



LANGUAGE SKILLS:



Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to the prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management and the public.




MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.



REASONING SKILLS:



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables
