Job Description


A current opening through Robert Half, seeks an ambitious, determined Controller to join the team at a prominent services company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Las Cruces, New Mexico area.

Your responsibilities

- Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

- Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team

- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

- Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

Requirements

- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- BA/BS in Accounting, required

- Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

- Proven knowledge of payroll

- Knowledge of Prepare Financial Statements

- Auditing experience

- Solid understanding of billing

- Foundational knowledge in Monthly Financial Statements

- Bank reconciliations experience

- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Excellent attention to detail

- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

- Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

- Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
