Job Title: Controls Engineering Manager
Location: Central WisconsinPosition Overview:
The Automation & Controls Manager will provide leadership, oversight, and technical training for a team specializing in control system design, programming, and panel construction. This includes mentoring Controls Design Engineers, PLC/HMI Programmers, and Control Technicians to ensure the successful design, build, and installation of control panels for fluid and heat transfer systems in a variety of industrial and process environments. The manager will also support sales and project management teams, ensuring smooth execution of projects, while maintaining the integrity and profitability of the company.Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and train the Automation/Controls group, which includes managing staff performance, conducting reviews, and hiring.
• Coordinate automation personnel for project-specific needs, adjusting manpower based on schedule demands.
• Develop and review control system designs, ensuring technical accuracy and functionality.
• Act as a technical resource for project managers, process engineers, and sales personnel to meet project goals and support customer needs.
• Specify and requisition automation components, including control panels, instrumentation, PLC hardware, and other essential parts.
• Lead or assist with PLC/HMI programming, ensuring timely and accurate project delivery.
• Oversee the layout, building, and installation of control panels, guiding the integration of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot automation issues and provide field support for system installations, including travel to customer locations as necessary.
• Provide oversight and mentorship for team members involved in hands-on installation, programming, and design work.
• Develop cost estimates and work scopes for automation-related project proposals, collaborating with sales and estimating teams.
• Maintain adherence to company policies and industry standards.

Requirements:

• Technical degree or equivalent experience in Electrical or Mechanical fields, with a minimum of 10 years\' experience in PLC and HMI programming.
• Proven expertise in control panel design, AC/DC wiring, and programming with Rockwell Automation products.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently under deadlines.
• Hands-on experience with process instrumentation and control components.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, internal teams, and vendors.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%, both locally and nationally, with occasional international trips.
