If you want to be a member of a respected collaborative team of educators, where you are encouraged and supported to grow professionally and personally, in a school district that focuses on developing relationships that support the needs of our students and our staff, and that is making a profound difference for kids, then you may be the kind of teacher we are seeking for this position.AGSD offers a competitive salary and benefits package ranging from $58,293 to $96,343.Qualifications:Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate, SecondaryCTE/Vocational Education endorsement/experienceAgriculture and/or Greenhouse ExperienceResponsibilities:Take the lead in growing an already established vocational program that includes metals, woods and greenhouse horticulture/agriculture.Travels to all district sites.Meet the needs of students who have an interest in pursuing vocational/technical classes.Be a proactive member of our professional learning communityCollaborate with collegial and supervisory staff to implement the goals of the school and district.Maintain open communication and involvement with the students' families and community.Develop positive relationships with parents and students to support academic achievement.Actively participate in creating positive relationships with the community.Possess a customer service orientation, maintain and model a professional manner and decorum.Keep abreast of current and emerging research and trends in CTE.Actively participate in the district's New Teacher cultural orientation/induction program.Other duties as assigned.Alaska Gateway School District (AGSD): AGSD is a highly progressive K-12 public school system serving approximately 400 students in seven rural communities in the outdoor paradise of the Eastern interior of Alaska. The district serves an area twice as large as New Hampshire, extending 26,000 square miles westward from the Canadian Border, comprising the Upper Tanana and Yukon River drainages. Community populations in the district range from 30 (Dot Lake) to 1500 (the regional hub of Tok). Anchorage and Fairbanks are 340 miles, and 200 miles away on paved roads, where one can shop, enjoy fine dining, and attend concerts, movies and stage-shows, along with other events.Tok School is the largest school in the district, with 200 students K-12. The school is a newer facility that has a full vocational technical shop area that includes a wood shop and a metals shop and we are currently installing a MakerSpace lab. We also have a full 3000 sq. ft commercial greenhouse, a biomass CHIP system that provides heat and electricity for the school.
