The Biology Program provides the biological component of liberal arts education. We promote student understanding of biological concepts relevant to the individual and society and foster an appreciation of scientific inquiry. Biology is an integral subject for other majors\' requirements and the Biology department is committed to fulfilling these. service courses and general education for other departments.
Our students obtain a broad education, covering a wide variety of biological disciplines. We focus on the student, facilitating hands-on experience, interactions with faculty, and opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate research in topics of regional interest. Program activity is dominated by our teaching mission, with a typical semester teaching load consisting of 12 credit hours of instruction with the possibility of 3 credits reassignment for mentoring students in research. The Department of Biology currently has eight full-time, tenure-track faculty, and serves about 350 majors. We offer majors in Biology, Wildlife and Natural Resources, Cannabis Biology, and Chemistry. We also offer an MS in Biology. The Biology department resides within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, which includes the Departments of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, Engineering Technology and Construction Management, and Engineering.
Description of Job
The postdoctoral scholar will help administer an NSF grant (CUATRO) and will be focused on involving Biology and Wildlife and Natural Resources (WANR) students in environmental research. This is a 12-month position that will teach 9 credits over a calendar year in Biology and WANR. This position is funded by a non-renewable CUATRO grant.
