The College of Nursing (CON) at the University of Rhode Island (URI), the state\'s flagship land and sea-grant research institution, invites applications and nominations for its next Dean. The CON seeks a transformative, dynamic, and collaborative leader to set forth an ambitious vision to innovate the missions of education, scholarship, service, and nursing practice. The dean will embrace the current trends that are rapidly impacting the profession and position URI as a pioneering leader for the future healthcare environment in the state and beyond. Committed to teaching, research, and service excellence, the dean will collaborate with senior university leadership, faculty, staff, and students to lead the college into its next defining chapter.

The next dean will join the URI community at an exciting time as the university embarks on a bold strategy to extend and amplify the University\'s presence as a leading research institution. Working closely with university leadership, the dean will be tasked with assisting in implementing and meeting the strategic priorities of the new university-wide strategic plan ( ) while concurrently advancing a strategic vision for the College of Nursing.

Reporting to the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, the dean serves as the college\'s chief academic and administrative officer and is responsible for managing its resources, including faculty and staff, physical facilities, and budget. The college is home to over 30 full-time faculty members whose commitment to 850 undergraduate and 150 graduate students fuels their teaching and acclaimed research.

The next dean will leave a lasting impact and legacy within the CON by enhancing a brand anchored in the quality of its academic programs, the preeminence of its research, and its impact on the challenges facing healthcare and society broadly. Under the next dean\'s leadership, the CON will advance the university-wide commitment to community, equity, and diversity by supporting CON faculty, staff, and students from historically underrepresented groups, articulating an understanding of the educational and social value of a diverse community, and fostering an inclusive educational and workplace climate. As the public face of the college, the dean is the most prominent advocate for nursing education at URI and will enthusiastically tell the college\'s story to alumni, healthcare leaders, and high-potential supporters in Rhode Island, New England, and beyond, striving to cultivate collaboration. The dean will prioritize student success through innovative curricular and co-curricular approaches that meet the needs of a new generation of students, inspiring them to envision what they can achieve in the future.

The successful candidate will be a champion for teaching and scholarship, foster interprofessional research and collaboration, have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, high energy, a passion for fundraising, political astuteness, a deep commitment to diversity, and a personal style that engenders trust and respect. The dean will be visible on CON\'s campus sites in both Kingston and the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center (RINEC) in Providence and in the broader community and must have an appreciation and passion for the mission of higher education at a public, flagship, land and sea-grant research university.

The University of Rhode Island has retained Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm, to assist the Search Committee for the Dean of the College of Nursing in its identification and review of candidates.
