Marsam Metal Finishing Company in New Britain, CT is currently seeking a skilled or semi-skilled individual that has the fundamental skills, aptitude and especially the right attitude to join our team dedicated in finishing stages of multi industry manufacturing products.

POSITION SUMMARY



The Deburr Technician duties primarily consist of the practice of manual deburring and cosmetic finishing of machined parts in an efficient and safe manner using standard bench methods and applicable tools. Performs in process preparation and/or the final prep. of a part prior for final inspection (a clean and finished product after machining). Typical finishing operations includes breaking edges, removing burrs and surface irregularities, chamfering and blending surfaces to facilitate the completion of machined parts per engineering requirements. Refers to blueprints, templates/sample parts and work orders and sometimes verbal instructions for dimensions and finish information for processing the part. Utilizes standard burr station tools, which includes; rotary air grinders, burr tools, pencil grinders, files, burr knives/scrapers, countersinks, sanding or abrasive discs, buffing pads or other bench related items to perform the required deburring work for meeting part finish requirements. Other daily activities include neatly storing/racking the finished product for protection in a neat and organized fashion. Level II and III DT's are experienced at using all hand tools and abrasives associated with deburring, blending and finishing practices. Likewise, Tech's at this level have learned the tricks of the trade, the proper tools to use and advanced part finishing techniques. Is, adept at using common precision measuring instruments to inspect dimensions accurately within +/- .001 and works closely with other personnel to verify and ensure part conformance. The Deburr Technician I, is considered a Trainee and receives on-the-job training and supervision to learn to blend mismatches and edge break parts to meet finished requirements and then advances to a Level II DT upon acquiring and proving adequate skill sets and time on the job to master such skills and abilities, reliability and punctuality is an absolute must.

BASIC DUTIES:



Select abrasives and blending tools according to material, size, shape, finish and amount of work to be performed for finish a part. Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine part finish & deburr requirements from machined state Quality workmanship that is performed on a consistent - daily basis and with minimum guidance. Clean work booth and immediate shop area regularly and prior to leaving each day. Follows all safety guidelines, including proper use of safety equipment, PPE and relevant safety procedures Uses hand tools, power grinders, deburring machines, and sanders to deburr parts and maintain tolerances Use precision measuring instruments as needed to measure parts for conformance-to blueprint specs. Handle machined parts in a careful manner and stores items properly to prevent damage Responsible for recording all labor hours in company time system accurately, follow production scheduling and shop floor controls as directed Perform other duties as assigned, may assist/train other employees in the performance of their duties Maintains mindset for reducing the risk of workplace incidents and injuries

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



High school diploma or equivalent with at least 6 months of practical work experience in a manufacturing environment
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
