JOB SUMMARY:
The job of Truck Driver is described as:
Loading pallets, containers, and singular inventory items onto trucks using forklift and manual methods.
Unloading pallets, containers, and singular inventory after deliveries are made.
Delivering inventory to customer sites and/or other delivery destinations, using verbal and/or written driving directions and customer directions.
Maintaining satisfactory truck operability with regular fueling, cleaning, inspecting, and reporting of problems to the Supervisor. Driving safely and following all laws and regulations on roads and highways, as well as safe driving in parking lots and in other job site areas. Needs general math skills and the ability to read, hear, and understand written and verbal driving directions, as well as the ability to read and understand shipping manifests. Must have a clean driving record, a valid Driver's License (Non-CDL, Commercial Driver's License is optional), valid DOT medical certificate, and knowledge of motor vehicle rules and regulations. Must be able to drive a forklift, operate safety equipment, and work safely at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
Loading trucks:
Assist in pulling orders
Assist with packing/wrapping orders
Use a forklift to place material in the truck
Manually lift and load independent inventory items
Arrange items so that they will remain stationary during movement
Strap down loads to restrict movement and ensure safety
Inspect loads to ensure lack of movement and safe placement of inventory
Unloading trucks:
Unload material, either manually or with the assistance of a forklift or other device
Return straps and any other shipping aids to their appropriate places
Notify the Supervisor of undelivered inventory
Delivering inventory:
Locate delivery destinations on maps or mapping software
Drive the truck with material to the designated location
Find the designated recipient of the material
Place the inventory in the customer-directed designated area
Obtain written confirmation of the delivery
Return the truck to the facility/point of origin
Notify the Supervisor of any delivery problems
Satisfactory truck maintenance:
Fill up truck fuel tanks at designated fuel station
Clean the inside of the truck after deliveries, removing trash and other unnecessary items
Clean the outside of the truck to remove dirt and grime
Inspect trucks before driving (tires, lights, mirrors, etc.)
Report any maintenance issues or concerns to the Supervisor
Driving safely:
Determine if the loaded truck meets the appropriate weight requirements
Maneuver delivery trucks carefully in parking lots, job site areas, roads and highways
Follow all local, state, and federal rules governing road and highway traffic (speed limits, etc.)
Maintain logbooks in truck
Report any driving-related accidents or citations to the Supervisor.
Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position
QUALIFICATIONS:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shipping manifests
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to speak English
Ability to read, analyze, and comprehend maps or mapping software
Ability to hear and interpret verbal driving direction
Mathematical Skills:
Knowledge of basic math skills
Ability to do some computations on the spot/mentally
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Forklift certification (available on-site)
Valid Driver's License (from State of residence)
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding road and highway use
Skill to operate an automatic transmission vehicle
Ability to work safely
Ability to operate necessary safety equipment
Ability to learn the layout of the facility
Ability to interact well with customers
Ability to maintain a good attitude
Physical Demands:
Heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs.) is required at times
Sitting for long periods (while driving)
Reaching with hands and arms
Pushing and/or pulling heavy material and equipment
Exposure to cold in winter and heat in summer months
Other:
Must be available to work varying hours when needed
Must have a clean driving record
Must pass a pre-employment and random drug tests
Must pass a pre-employment background check
Will be subject to random drug testing
Must pass and conform to all DMV Commercial Driver's License requirements

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
