  • Provides direction, leadership and guidance to regional office staff to ensure the achievement of AmeriCorps program goals, objectives, and priorities across all AmeriCorps streams of service. Manages regional office staff, budget, and performance, compliance, and administration functions to optimize regional performance.
  • Supports the Regional Administrator with implementing, modifying and evaluating regional operating plans in alignment with AmeriCorps program goals, priorities and initiatives outlined annually.
  • Ensures implementation of, and adherence to policies and procedures relevant to grant and programmatic administration activities.
  • Forecasts, measures, and reports financial and program performance results of various projects and initiatives with grantees, associations and other partners.
  • Recommends and implements enhancements or changes to reengineer service delivery models, amend policies (in consultation with program leadership), strengthen grant and financial administration, and revise procedures to improve efficiency, effectiveness and compliance. Recommends improvements to the structure, operation, and efficiency of the Regions.
  • Drives seamless coordination between AmeriCorps Programs and Regional operations and across streams of service, with the objective of improving the quality of program delivery and community impact. Supports the Regional Administrator with overseeing engagement and programming in response to local and national community needs.
  • Facilitates close and efficient coordination of regional staff's support to AmeriCorps programs and with other AmeriCorps headquarters departments on common programming, operational 2 and funding issues. Facilitates sharing best practices and learning across regions, incorporating proven practices from other regions into program delivery approach and portfolio management.
  • Ensures that programs are implemented in alignment with cost-effective, outcome-driven and evidence-based interventions that are responsive to national, state and local priorities. - In coordination with the Director, Outreach and Partnerships, plans and implements a program development approach for advancing AmeriCorps national and local impact by convening partners, building coalitions, forging common agendas, organizing community awareness, initiating new grantees and partners, and leveraging resources.
  • Identifies and addresses priority issues in region, capitalizing on opportunities and partnerships to provide a unified and coordinated AmeriCorps voice with constituents and partners at the regional level.
  • Ensures Regional Operations is adequately resourced to perform its mission and oversee day-to-day business activities in the office, including financial management, staffing, space, resources, and travel.
  • Manages all aspects of regional staff, including selection, direction, supervision, and evaluation of regional personnel. Ensures that direct reports are accountable for managing program operations and their subordinate staff through measurable performance standards. Oversees the development of a high performing regional team, providing frequent feedback to and support for regional team.

QualificationsApplicants must meet eligibility requirements and minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to successfully perform the duties of the position, in either federal or non-federal service performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments:I have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the mid/upper-range of the NY-04 level, which is at, or equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience is directly related to community service programs on the local, state, national or international level and/or related to administering a federal grant program with a community foundation, or other service-related entity, and includes:1. Supervising and performing the full range of managerial duties (e.g. performance appraisals, distributing work).
2. Managing a team that oversees grant portfolios.
3. Overseeing and managing program progress, performance and recommending improvements.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
