We are actively hiring a Desktop Publishing Specialist to join our team on a newly awarded, multi-year contract based in the Northern Virginia area. This multi-year contract needs you to fill Human Language Translation (HLT) positions such as Desktop Publishing Specialists, Language Data Analysts, Localizations Engineers, Terminologists, and Translation Workflow Specialists. As a Desktop Publishing Specialist, you will be responsible for all matters related to the formatting and production of translation projects, especially graphics, OCR, file conversions, and word processing, in order to enable translators to focus entirely on linguistic work.

RESPONSIBILTIES

• Assess time/material requirements for completion of DTP and formatting tasks
• Fix formatting in Word, Adobe PDF, PPT, inDesign, Flash, Ilustrator, and similar formats
• Edit graphics and charts
• Prepare various file formats and technologies for translation using CAT tools
• Maximize the use of technology in all steps of DTP and formatting
• Provide technical support on DTP issues required by client

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• Bachelor\'s degree or its equivalent
• Experience or training in graphic design
• Superb analytical skills
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills (English)
• Excellent knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe Suite, Quark, etc)
• Adept at using the full suite of Microsoft Office tools
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player
• Organized and motivated self-starter with a problem-solving attitude

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Knowledge of Computer-assisted Translation (CAT) tools
• Localization, Desktop Publishing, and technology related experience
• Some knowledge of web programming languages (HTML, XML, ASP, JSP)
• Knowledge of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tools
• Knowledge of video editing and subtitling
• Primary level or better in target foreign language
