Job Description

The Litchfield Country Club is a family-oriented member-run organization offering a friendly atmosphere and fun for all ages. Nestled within the White Memorial Foundation property, the Club boasts a challenging 9-hole golf course with views of the Litchfield Hills, no tee times, and opportunities for all levels of play. Additional amenities include four Har-Tru tennis courts, two paddle tennis/pickleball courts, swimming and wading pools and a vibrant summer children's program. Open most of the year, the clubhouse is a restored mid-19th century farmhouse with terraces and gardens overlooking the tranquil and meandering Bantam River and Litchfield Hills, a perfect setting to enjoy full-service brunch, lunch, dinner and special events.

Position Overview

The

Dining Room Manager

is responsible for the seamless operation of the dining room and for clubhouse events, ensuring exceptional service, efficiency, and a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests. This role oversees daily dining operations, including staffing, special event execution, and for maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and professionalism.

The Dining Room Manager is required to be on-site during all operational hours and is expected to lead by example--fostering a culture of respect, hospitality, and excellence among staff.

Key Responsibilities



Staffing & Leadership



Recruit, train, and supervise waitstaff, service staff, and bar staff, ensuring adherence to customer service standards, dining protocols, POS system usage, and safety/hygiene regulations. Develop and manage staff schedules, adjusting as needed to meet business demands and budget constraints. Provide hands-on support as needed, stepping in during staffing shortages or peak business hours.

Customer Service & Member Engagement



Ensure every member and guest receives outstanding service with professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Manage dining reservations and oversee the seating process for an optimal guest experience. Promptly address and resolve member inquiries, concerns, and complaints, escalating unresolved issues to the House Committee Chair when necessary. Maintain a proactive, solution-oriented approach to enhancing the overall dining experience. Personally greet and assist members upon arrival at the clubhouse, fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Administrative & Operational Management



Oversee all

Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions

, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Assist the Business Manager in resolving billing inquiries and managing budget-related questions. Collaborate with the

Executive Chef

to plan, budget, and staff special events, including both club-hosted and external events. Monitor reservation responses for special events and communicate recommendations to the House Committee Chair as needed. Coordinate with the

House Committee Chair

on service standards, communications, decor, and clubhouse cleanliness. With the House Committee, and Executive Chef, develop and maintain the

annual House event and dining room schedule

, ensuring accurate representation on the Club calendar. Review and validate weekly member communications, including event details, dining hours, pricing, and menus. Promote club events and dining offerings through internal communication channels. Take ownership of the clubhouse's appearance, ensuring the dining area is always presentable, well-maintained, and "member ready." Perform additional duties as assigned by the House Committee Chair.

Qualifications & Competencies



Proficiency in

restaurant operations technology

, including POS systems and office applications. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to

engage and connect with a diverse membership base

. Ability to effectively

manage time, meet deadlines, and resolve issues proactively

.

Minimum of 4 years of experience

in a managerial role within a club, restaurant, or hospitality setting.

Physical Requirements



Ability to move freely throughout the clubhouse. Capability to lift and transport equipment or packages weighing up to 50 lbs. Use of arms, legs, hands, fingers, and vision to perform job duties effectively. The ability to mentor and encourage staff.

Work Schedule & Expectations



The

Dining Room Manager is required to be on-site during all operating hours

. The dining room operates from

mid-February through December

, offering lunch and dinner service

4-5 days per week

, in addition to special events.
