Job Responsibilities

This position is located at Department of Mental Health/Columbia Area Mental Health, Adult Clinic Services, CAMHC #545.

Under direct supervision, provide individual and group peer support services offering hope and supportive feedback on recovery, growth, and healing.

Collect, organize, and record data and information in each patient\'s medical record according to quality assurance standards, CARF Guidelines, and corporate compliance standards. Monitor renewal periods for reauthorization of Peer Support services.

Re-engage patients who have a lapse in services or who have been non-compliance with treatment back into services via telephone, letter, or face-to-face contact.

Participates in team meetings with clinical staff, provides input on patient\'s needs, presents and discusses methods of delivery.

Performs administrative functions including maintenance of medical records in accordance with QA standards.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements: Associate degree and one (1) year of experience in direct support of persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Agency Requirements: Completion of the Peer Support Specialist certification training sponsored by SCDMH.

Note: When Agency Requirements are indicated, applicants must also meet the Agency Requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

CAMHC Prefers: Understanding of mental illness and the recovery process; awareness of community resources; ability to communicate effectively.
