What you\'ll learn & achieve:

UL Solutions is looking for a highly experienced and motivated communications executive to lead its external communications function. Reporting into the Senior Vice President of Communications, the ideal candidate will develop and execute an ambitious global strategy to position UL Solutions and top executives in key verticals, geographies and among critical industry and financial stakeholders, while building a robust program to build and protect the UL Solutions brand in conjunction with Thought Leadership and Marketing initiatives. This role works across all corporate functions and business units and has strong partnerships with the public affairs and investor relations teams. This individual will manage a small team of employees and manage global PR agency relationships to meet external communications objectives.

Responsibilities

• Serve on the Communications global leadership team, contributing to the development of long-term vision, planning and annual goal setting for the function
• Develop and execute external communications and public relations strategies to drive top-tier media coverage and visibility to further the company\xe2\x80\x99s reputation
• Develop thought leadership program and narratives aligned with the overall UL Solutions positioning and trending news topics / issues
• Provide direction, alignment and management of the PR agency work measuring success through key performance indicators in a variety of channels, including top-tier media and premier speaking forums
• Work with Marketing to manage/coordinate digital channels including UL.com, and UL Solutions owned social channels to effectively promote company reputation
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key reporters / media and manage media inquiries and interview requests
• Partner on message development and provide media training and coaching as appropriate to prepare key executive spokespeople
• Lead communications planning, message development and PR plan execution for issues, crisis, M&A and other strategic transactions managing reputational risk
• Partner with global Marketing teams to increase brand awareness and support integrated campaigns to help drive demand
• Manage content for press releases, bylined articles and speaking opportunities
• Lead, coach and develop public relations team including those within businesses

What makes you a great fit:

• 10+ years of experience in Communications and Public Relations including corporate reputation, executive positioning, crisis communications, and financial media expertise
• 5+ years of managing and developing high performing global teams
• Experience developing relationships with reporters / media, pitching news stories / ideas, managing media inquiries and serving as a media spokesperson
• Exceptional writing and editing skills. Storytelling is non-negotiable talent.
• Strong verbal communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills
• Strong business acumen and partnering, consulting, and influencing skills with the ability to build and navigate relationships at all levels of the organization, particularly at the executive level
• Experience working in large, complex organization with diverse products
• Effective balance of strategy and execution with the ability to drive change and achieve business results
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Problem solving skills, with specific focus on developing new, creative ways to drive communications in a changing business environment
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build teamwork and trust including in working across functions and disciplines
• Positive attitude and willingness to embrace change
