Actual Job Title:
The Director, Leadership Communications role will lead executive Communications, reporting to the EVP, Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability. Reporting into the Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability department, this contractor will contribute to a shared mission to advance and protect the Client brand, cultivate colleague engagement and drive thought leadership in animal health across internal and external channels.
This leader will serve as a trusted communications advisor to executive team members and develop and execute a strategic leader communications program, including driving a core narrative, messaging and thought leadership platforms through speaking opportunities and other internal and external stakeholder content and programming.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute end-to-end executive communications plan
Craft narrative, messaging and thought leadership platforms
Identify and prepare executive for internal and external communications activities that advance strategic priorities; vet inbound requests; work with cross-functional stakeholders to manage all preparation
Work closely with Communications and Digital teams to leverage leader for key internal priorities, channels and events
Write and edit compelling and persuasive communications, including narratives/POVs, scripts, talking points, blog posts, email messages and briefing documents
Support social media efforts, in partnership with Digital Comms team
Develop infrastructure to manage and scale executive communications, including processes, templates, and tools
Anticipate and manage issues as needed in coordination with corporate communications team
Knowledge And Skills
Outstanding writing and editing skills; often asked to edit the work of others
Strong executive presence and strategic counselor skills
Creative and agile; able to think beyond whats been done before
Ability to synthesize complex concepts to create compelling stories and messages
Finger on the pulse of emerging topics and themes worthy of commercial thought leadership in animal health
Collaborative approach and ability to work cross-functionally through matrixed organization
Capability to understand the dynamics and unique needs of audiences in international markets
Organization and program management skills
Minimum Required
Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field; Masters degree preferred.
A minimum of 10 years experience in communications or related field
Experience supporting executive communications.
Expertise in media and public relations, including established relationships with business media outlets and industry influencers
Strong background in the healthcare or pharmaceuticals industry, preferred.
