Overview of Position:



The Director of Development & Corporate Engagement (DDCE) serves as a key leadership team member and active participant in strategic decisions. Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the DDCE will help design and implement a comprehensive development plan, establish external alliances and cultivate individual, corporate and philanthropic support and will ultimately be responsible for raising $2 million. The DDCE advances the League's visibility, impact, and financial resources. The DDCE has primary responsibility for major gifts, legacy gifts, special event fundraising, naming campaigns, on-line/crowd source fundraising, and corporate/foundation support. The DDCE will expand and diversify the League's donor base/pipeline and work closely with League management to secure funding for new initiatives. This role is intended for a proven development professional with experience in the creation and execution of development strategies and programs, with an established track record of growing a donor base and increasing philanthropic revenue.

Essential Job Responsibilities:



Co-create and execute a comprehensive annual strategic development plan in partnership with the CEO Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations, with additional focus on Planned Gifts Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with major donors to increase revenue base Share best practices, creative solutions, and innovative approaches to meeting fundraising goals Regularly assess development strategies and adjust based on donor feedback and outcomes Responsible for all moves management efforts ensuring all donor cultivation and gifts received are tracked accordingly in the Donor Perfect database Supervise and support staff responsible for data entry, tax acknowledgement letters, gift processing and other Development assignments Lead, support when needed, and implement special events fundraising as appropriate or guided by CEO Works with staff, volunteers and board members to achieve funding goals and benchmarks Support/promote/engage community relations with neighbors, city/state officials, key constituents and Chamber of Commerce Serve as a key member of the leadership team, participating in strategic planning and decision-making Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:



Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) required; master's degree a plus 5+ years of successful experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects in a nonprofit setting, including significant experience in a leadership position Experience supervising and managing staff Demonstrated success in developing a major gift program and/or a legacy gift program Experience cultivating or managing a corporate engagement program Proven track record in growing philanthropic revenue and expanding donor bases in a nonprofit setting Experience working collaboratively with a Board of Directors and programs Experience nurturing, and motivating volunteers and/or members, and an appreciation for their role in building an effective fundraising network Development/Fundraising certification and/or association involvement a plus Experience with related mission driven organization preferred

Creative, hard-working, self-motivated team player who is passionate about the League's mission and programs Results-oriented with an entrepreneurial mindset, actively seeks to deepen donor and volunteer relationships and forge new ones Demonstrated knowledge, skills, experience and existing relationships in all fundraising areas: individual, corporate, foundation, legacy giving, and campaign funding Demonstrated competency and success in securing major gifts of $50k+ Excellent track record of achieving goals and annual targets Strength in development strategic planning and development campaigns Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent time management and follow-through Experience with fundraising databases (Donor Perfect or Raiser's Edge) Strong interpersonal "team player" skills, experience working in collaborative environments Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and oral/written communication skills Experience effectively working with and managing individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds Familiarity with and/or experience working with the communities served by the League is a plus Spanish language skills are desirable but not required

Job Classification / Salary:



Exempt level position. Hiring range starts at $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
