The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is seeking a Director of Victim Services for the Office of Victim Services. The successful candidate will be accountable for directing compensation and counseling activities for victims of crimes, their families, and witnesses. Duties include: directing the staff and operations of the unit that determines eligibility and provides compensation for victims of crimes; directing the staff and operations of the unit which provides assistance and advocacy services for crime victims; directing the investigation, processing, and payment of compensation claims; coordinating, planning, and managing unit activities; formulating program goals and objectives; developing or assisting in the development of related policies; conducting performance evaluations; directing the applications for and allocation of federal, state, and private grants and funds; promoting awareness of victims\' compensation through public education; ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations; maintaining contacts with advocacy groups, organizations, federal agencies, and individuals both within and outside of the state relative to the unit\'s program activities and victims\' rights and compensation issues; preparing reports and correspondence; performing related duties as required.
The preferred candidate must have considerable knowledge of and ability to apply business and management principles and techniques; knowledge of the criminal justice system; knowledge of social service networks; knowledge of the problems, needs and issues affecting persons victimized by crime; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; ability to comprehend and apply relevant state and federal laws.
Salary Range: $140,699 - $182,107/year \xe2\x80\x93 plus State of Connecticut benefits.
New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
General Experience: Ten (10) years of professional experience in a combination of the following areas: public administration, social services program administration, criminal justice administration, community-based assistance program administration, or a related field.
Special Requirements: Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in an administrative capacity with responsibility for applying the principles and practices of budgeting, personnel management, planning, purchasing, etc.
