THE POSITION

**Although there is a salary range for this position, salary will be negotiated depending on experience.**

This recruitment will be used to establish an open competitive and promotional eligibility list that may be used to fill this vacancy and vacancies occurring in this classification for a minimum period of six (6) months. Directs, manages, supervises and coordinates the operation of the RTC\'s transit systems through close coordination with RTC staff and Transit Services contractors.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Work Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor\'s Degree in business administration, planning, or a closely related field and seven (7) years of full-time professional fixed route bus transit operations experience, two (2) years of which was in a managerial role, preferably within the last twenty-four (24) months.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver\'s license at the time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in this position is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive background investigation, including qualifying education/experience verification, social security trace, criminal history records review, and a driving history records check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical ability to perform office and related work, including operating computers and office machinery; stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 25 pounds; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Directs, oversees and coordinates the work of assigned staff including transit planning, quality assurance, operations, and sales staff. Conducts performance evaluations, coaches and develops staff, and engages in employee relations activities. Conducts liaison responsibilities for transit service provider contracts and oversees monitoring of service quality to ensure contractor compliance with contract provisions. Directs and participates in the Request for Proposal process for solicitation and selection of transit service provider(s). Oversees the assessment of liquidated damages and prepares communications directing corrective action. Oversees safety and security responsibilities for areas assigned and ensures that direct reports are trained on safety procedures, fully compliant with procedures, and held accountable for breaches in safety and security protocol. Directs and oversees data collection and reporting related to operations and recommends service enhancements. Maintains knowledge of operational trends and formulates appropriate action necessary by the RTC to ensure that its services continue to operate in an effective and efficient manner. Represents the RTC in meetings with community groups, media or individuals; answers inquiries and provides information/assistance as required. Supports RTC management in planning efforts as required. Directs and manages analytical and research projects related to fixed route delivery service. Participates in staffing and employee relations related activities for assigned staff and ensures adherence to RTC\'s diversity initiatives in all aspects. Other duties as assigned.
