DSHS ATLSA Adult Family Home Licensor

This opportunity is an Allied Health position located in the ALTSA RCS Region 2 Kent Office. In this role, you will conduct Adult Family Home (AFH) on-site full licensing inspections, as needed complaint investigations, revisit inspections, monitor visits, and focused infection control inspections for state licensure.

Responsibilities include the performance of all inspection activities (full and abbreviated) as listed in the applicable state operational procedures manual (SOP) as well as accurate communication of findings to AFH Providers and staff orally and in writing.

You will be responsible for planning inspection activities, conducting interviews, observing residents and their environment (including visiting onsite facilities that have reported any type of infectious diseases outbreak), performing record reviews, and meeting performance measures related to written reports and data entry. This Position requires attending units\' huddles, mandatory meetings, trainings, Informal Dispute Resolutions, administrative hearings, or other assigned activities.

Some of what you will be doing

  • Conduct full licensure and complaint investigations (as needed) and complete required data entry and reports (e.g., statements of deficiencies, investigation summary reports, etc.) for AFHs according to department process
  • Make visual and auditory observations of resident care and services, and the physical environment in which the services are provided. Observe and interview residents, staff, and facility functions for extended periods of time
  • Obtain necessary and relevant information regarding residents\' care and services from professional records, facility staff and other sources. Document observations, interviews and record reviews in a format that is easily understood and legible in accordance with agency standards
  • Effectively communicate with diverse populations
  • Evaluate nursing care within parameters of state regulations
  • Recognize and analyze deficient practice and effectively communicate to team members, other department staff and AFH staff
  • Organize findings, develop, and prepare a thorough detailed written report in a timely manner
  • Manage hard copy and electronic working papers and records so that they can be filed in a timely manner, according to department process
  • Work effectively individually as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team in positive, professional peer review manner
  • Participate in the training of new staff/team members (preceptor or mentor role as needed)
  • Competence in Computer skills, usage of technology, portable electronic devices, to effectively use, and maintain programs related to position
  • Accept and follow procedures and directives from management
Identify and follow chain of command and utilize appropriate communication channels * Conduct state licensure follow up inspections and monitoring visits (as needed/assigned)
  • Participate in education, training, enforcement recommendation, informal dispute resolution and administrative hearings as required
Who should apply

Professionals with a Master\'s degree in social work, speech pathology, occupational or physical therapy, psychology, special education, sociology, or a related field + two years of professional experience in planning, administering, licensing, monitoring, or delivering social or health or behavioral health service programs;

OR

Two additional years of qualifying experience will substitute for a master\'s degree, and a bachelor\'s degree in one of the above-mentioned fields has been achieved.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of institutional nursing services; public health and professional nursing fields; community organization and resources; effective teaching methods; organization, administration, and supervision; research and study methods.
  • Ability to: evaluate institutional nursing services; exercise objective judgment; stimulate local cooperation and support for effective nursing service; bring about improved practices.
This job is classified as a Long-Term Care Surveyor. It is important to note that you will travel individually and/or in teams, usually during the workweek, but this may require continuous days of work beyond five days and outside the normal business hours. In addition, as an emergency designated role, reporting for duty on short notice, outside of normal work hours and days, at different duty stations, and temporarily performing work outside normal scope of duties are acceptable scopes of this job.
