Responsibilities
The Medical Science Director (MSD) plays an important role in Medical Affairs at client, being part of a small and exclusive field-based team of medical science experts who interact with regional and national key opinion leaders (KOLs) and local customers. The MSD has significant responsibility and is expected to provide in-depth scientific, clinical and educational support to external customers as well as to internal clinical, sales and marketing teams. In addition, the MSD provides scientific insights back to Medical Affairs management. The MSD will identify new business opportunities, anticipate market changes while they cultivate relationships with strategically important clinical customers.
Preferred MSD candidates will have a successful track record in a field-based medical or customer facing role. An MSD must have one or more areas of specialization in eye health (e.g. cataract, retina, glaucoma) where they are recognized as a subject matter expert. In addition to an MSD\xe2\x80\x99s assigned geography, an MSD must also have the ability to represent the company on a national level through industry presentations and customer interaction. It is important that the MSD has well established relationships with national KOLs in ophthalmology.
