Internal Closing Date: June 12, 2024Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world\'s largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for an Electrical Apprentice.Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site and 2 weeks off site.Reporting to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrical Apprentice will work with the E&I Department on electrical maintenance and electrical installation activities.Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Establish basic understanding of electrical components of the Mill, Mine and Camp facilities
• By assisting the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor or other Journeyperson to become familiar with the design and construction of new electrical installations, trouble shooting and repairing electrical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and checking pumps and ventilation systems
• Become familiar with process control instrumentation system design, operation, calibration and trouble shooting
• Learn various process and engineering calculations to size, specify, and select process instrumentation and industrial electrical equipment
• Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and have the willingness to learn and advance through the Electrical and Instrumental Apprentice progression
• Communicate effectively with other trade personnel, colleague and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
• Ensures compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
• Prior mining or similar experience preferred
• Physically capable of performing essential functions in the electrical trade
• Possess the basic aptitudes essential for acquiring the skills of the electrical trade
• Strong team cooperation is required
• Ability to perform tasks with limited direction
• Must work safely and follow instructions
• Must be willing to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
• A desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks and duties in the Electrical and Instrumental Progression
