Overview

The Emergency Department Lab Results RN works with ED provider, ED nurses, ED and Hospital station secretaries, Fairview laboratory staff, numerous clinics, nursing home nurses, assisted living nurses and group home caregivers. This opportunity allows you to join other nursing professionals in an encouraging environment where you are empowered to do your work well. We are adding new positions due to growth. The position is located in a call center environment with no direct patient interaction. There are several computer systems used to navigate resources for clients to best meet their needs.

Position details:

• Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• 0.6 (48 hours per two weeks)
• Hours: 9:00am-5:30pm

• Following training, we work remotely. The work from home location is required to be within driving distance from Midway Corporate Campus in Saint Paul
• About Training: Training for this position requires flexibility to work full time (1.0 FTE) on-site for 4-6 weeks. Our training shifts are variable including days, mid-shift, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

In accordance with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing Practice Act, the Fairview ED lab result follow-up RN primary responsibility is to lead the Fairview/MHealth ED lab result pools (Epic) for the following Emergency Departments: Fairview Ridges (RH), Fairview Southdale (SH) Fairview Northland (PH), Fairview Lakes (WY), U of MN/MHealth East (UU) and West Bank (UR) - NOT including U of MN Masonic Childrens), Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital (GICH), Fairview Forest Lake ISD 831,and the Urgent Care clinics at Fairview Lake Wyoming and North Branch.

The responsibility of the RN is to handle most of the lab results that were not finalized when the patient was discharged from the Fairview Emergency Department. You will use protocols approved by each site Emergency Department Medical Director to lead the results. Using the nursing process, the ED Lab Result RN facilitates access to the health care system and/or negotiates a satisfactory resolution to the clients\' concern.

This role is encouraged to work independently, using approved protocols which include occasional consultation with ED providers. The RN will contact certain patients with lab results and used RN assessment skills, document telephone encounter in Epic, send Rxs in appropriate pharmacys educate patient/parent - all actions subject to protocol.

Having knowledge in microbiology will be a plus.

Accountable for quality assessment; efficient management of care and client happiness.

In addition to the management of these lab results, the RN also works in partnership with the Lung nodule clinic at the U of MN. Per step by step guidelines/protocols, the RN reviews the results, charts appropriately, notifies Patient of recommendations, and places orders for CTs and Lung nodule referrals, and coordinates appointments with Lung nodule clinics. RN will need to have a good understanding of lungs nodules.

Qualifications

Required

• Current Minnesota RN License
• 3-5 years RN work experience
• Wisconsin RN License within 60 days of employment

Preferred

• Computer skills: able to document reliably in electronic health record software
• RN Triage experience
