Your Mission at Virgin Galactic

The Emergency Response Specialist reports to the Virgin Galactic Sr. Manager, Emergency Response System. The individual will be supporting the Emergency Response Program at all Virgin Galactic Locations. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail, excellent people skills, project management skills, ability to organize meetings, trainings and exercises as well as produce top quality results. This is a full-time position based primarily in Las Cruces, New Mexico but will require some travel between sites.

  • Assist with the development, implementation and annual review of Virgin Galactic\'s Emergency Management policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Develop and conduct emergency management training across the organization.
  • Design, coordinate, and guide various exercise scenarios including Table-Top Exercises (TTX\'s), Functional and Full-Scale Exercises with all partners including Hot-washes, After-Action Reports (AAR\'s) and Improvement Plan process.
  • Ensure operational readiness and assist in the activation of the Emergency Operation Center or other incident facilities when activated.
  • Sustain partnerships with County and State Divisions of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency along with other community partners.
  • Maintain lists of all critical emergency contacts that the company may need in an emergency situation.
  • Ensure operational capability by inventorying, inspecting, and testing all emergency response equipment, radios, supplies, vehicles, and facility systems.
  • Attend emergency preparedness meetings with local, regional, state, and federal level agencies, and incorporate outcomes, decisions, and recommendations[AS1] for best practices and policy/procedure updates.
  • Support the Emergency Management Committees across the organization.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve the knowledge and skill level of all levels of leadership to positively impact the safe operations of the business.
  • Develop and implement effective emergency response programs to ensure that operations are fully compliant with Local, State, and Federal laws/regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, FAA, EPA, NTSB, and local municipalities.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Ability to coordinate and liaise multiple activities with a culturally diverse audience and throughout all levels of the corporate organization.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of emergency management and program management.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside the normal business days and hours to support operations or special events.
  • Ability to respond to serious emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software applications
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to develop and deliver articulate presentations to groups of all sizes and levels; technical writing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with, OSHA, EPA, FAA and local regulators.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in emergency management or equivalent work experience highly desired.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, 800 required.
  • Completion of ICS 300, 400 desired.
  • FEMA Professional Development Series desired.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with start-up programs (desired)
  • 2+ years of emergency management experience.
  • Experience with regulatory agency policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Experience in policy and procedure development (desired).
  • Experience with special events or real-world disasters highly desirable.

Physical and/or Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to work flexible hours outside of normal business hours.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs (unassisted).
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $67,500.00-$97,950.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
