Responsible for the direction of clinical and administrative operations of the MHS Employee Health department. Provides direction and leadership of operational, programmatic, and employee-related activities for Employee Health. Collaborates closely with Workers Compensation, Human Resources, Clinical Operations, and Environmental Health & Safety to refine and maintain an effective system-level strategy.

Essential Job Functions
New Employee Health Screening & Onboarding Support
Leads the administration of pre-employment health screening activities; sets standards and creates consistency across a multi-affiliate health system.
Educates employee health staff how to execute MHS health screening/onboarding protocol set by the Health System and its Medical Director.
Trains staff on how to conduct employee physicals, drug screens, fit-for-duty evaluations, and other orders set by the Medical Director or Human Resources team.
Employee Health Programming Governance
Leads system flu-shot programming including the organization, deployment, oversight, and data collection functions to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate reporting.
Leads system mask-fitting program to ensure new and existing employees meet regulatory requirements for respirator usage.
Establishes protocol for conducting return-to-work and fit-for-duty evaluations.
Educates and informs employees, supervisors, and staff how to apply employee health practices in the workplace and follow established protocol.
Provides support for medical surveillance programs; collaborates with infection control to investigate exposures and determine ideal course of action.
Leads employee health team to conduct employee investigations, follow-ups, and testing.
Workers Compensation
Works collaboratively with Workers Compensation to monitor trends and patterns of injury/illness; develops action plans to improve safety and reduce injury/illness.
Works with management teams to proactively support safety initiatives, training/retraining of staff, and is diligent about the prevention of hazards on campuses.
Oversees the Workers Compensation function and its employees.
Manages the vendor relationship with MHSs workers compensation provider to ensure partnership effectiveness; provides them with timely and accurate reporting
Establishes protocol and coordination of employee injuries, corresponding treatment plans, follow-up activities, and documentation.
Completes/maintains OSHA 300 log according to OSHA rules and regulations; ensures all first reports of injury are completed.
Employee Health System Administration
Effectively optimize and maintain system-level records/reports including occupational health records, health assessments, incident reports, and treatment plans while ensuring that all records are within compliance regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational expectations.
Oversees and makes continuous improvement recommendations for how to utilize employee health software.
Teaches employees, supervisors, and staff how to appropriate utilize our employee health software; creates standard processes, instruction, and system efficiencies.
Manages the vendor relationship with MHS employee health system to ensure long-term effectiveness and sustainability.
Maintains data integrity of the information contained within the employee health system; develops stakeholder reports and monitors and reports on trends.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stays informed about changes in health regulations and ensure organizations compliance.
Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections or audits.
Provides support to the various campus safety committees for overview of claims data, financial analytics and benchmark measures.
Equipped to provide effective communication to both internal and external stakeholders pertaining to the status of the department; provides data insights to support regulatory requests.
Design and oversee the development of employee health policies, procedures, and protocols while serving on established health, safety, and wellness committees.
Advise stakeholders and department supervisors on health requirements, regulatory programs, and consultations pertaining to infection control.
Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes; formulates objectives, goals and strategies collaboratively with other stakeholders.

Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, nursing, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field required.
Masters degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene preferred.
Experience
Minimum of five years of experience in a health and safety role, with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing safety programs required.
Minimum of one year of experience to include the following: oversee the work of a group of people, hire, fire, assign work, orient, train, evaluate, discipline, coach/mentor and/or negotiate and interpret conflicts and influence outcomes on matters of significance OR two years of experience to include the majority of the following: serve as a technical expert for a group of employees, regularly model/mentor and train employees on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group, provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues and provide input on performance appraisals and/or disciplinary actions required.
License/Certifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional certification preferred.
If have a BSN, current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant health and safety standards preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop effective solutions required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels of the organization required.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team required.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
