The Call Taker is responsible for handling all incoming calls to our EMS Communications Center. A desirable candidate will have knowledge of Medical Terminology and Customer Service experience. Candidate must have excellent communication and data entry skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Receive emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance and medicar (wheelchair van) transportation.
Properly screen telephone calls and electronic communications.
Data entry.
HIPAA Compliance.
Ability to make decisions consistent with policy and guidelines.
Ability to think logically and quickly during an emergency.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in communications and customer service.
Good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations.
Detail-oriented and able to perform clerical functions.
Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
Must be able to communicate effectively, via telephone and radio to obtain and provide relevant information.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
* Licensed EMT, EMD, or experienced EMS Dispatch (preferred).
