Position is a staff subject matter professional requiring knowledge of wholesale electric energy markets and their corresponding multi-state regional market structures, transmission planning, stakeholder processes, and corresponding laws and federal regulation. Acting in multiple forums on behalf of the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), this position\'s duties include highly complex state, regional, and national energy policy and technical negotiations and recommendations on resource adequacy and wholesale energy markets that directly affect the cost of energy paid by all Michigan residential, commercial, and industrial customers; and Michigan\'s economic and regulatory climate. Primary work is in formal and informal forums at the Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Midcontinent ISO (MISO, regulated by FERC), and the Organization of MISO States (OMS), and with the PJM Interconnection (PJM) and the Organization of PJM States (OPSI).
Special Requirements:
Ability to initiate, investigate and evaluate issues to make effective and well-reinforced recommendations. Excellent communications skills, both written and oral. Knowledge of research methods. Ability to scrutinize conclusions of other parties and statistical data. Excellent public relations and computer skills. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications and other to learn other software as needed.

OR
Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
OR
One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
*Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate\'s degree or two years of college.
Educational Substitution
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.
