Hampton Lumber looking for an Environmental Engineer to join our team. In this role you will provide leadership, guidance and technical support to operations management. We are looking for someone to maintain a positive and productive working relationship with the community and the environmental agencies. This position will also serve as a member of the mill leadership team that assists in managing of the day-to-day and strategic direction of the mill. Responsibilities

  • Interact with plant personnel and company management to communicate environmental requirements, identifies compliance issues, implement compliance requirements, and act as a technical resource.
  • Conducts permitting applicability review of capital, acquisition, and maintenance projects.
  • Oversees facility environmental inspections and audits.
  • Oversees and leads environmental incident investigations and verifies implementation of corrective actions.
  • Manage source testing contractors and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
  • Develops systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Acts as company liaison with EPA, state, and international regulatory officials, and customers on environmental regulatory matters.
  • Provides training to the environmental department and plant personnel on key environmental issues, environmental requirements, and compliance.
  • Performs emissions calculations, statistical analysis, prepares reports, maintains appropriate compliance records, and files required documents with various regulatory agencies within stated deadlines.
  • Completes regular written reports to management regarding environmental projects.
  • Keeps abreast of new environmental regulations, including new international, U.S. state, and U.S. federal environmental regulatory changes.
  • Attends regulatory meetings and conferences and updates business on future industry needs.

Qualifications

Illustrative Essential Functions
  • Travel to mills is required.
  • Provides evening and weekend assistance to operations as needed.
Education and Training Required
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Law, or related education.
  • Minimum ten years of environmental experience managing environmental issues in a manufacturing setting, wood products industry experience is preferred, with a focus on air emission standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with federal, state (Oregon and Washington), and regional air quality regulations, including NSPS, NESHAP, Title V, Cleaner Air Oregon, Washington air toxics, and greenhouse gas.
  • Experience with environmental electronic reporting systems and procedures.
  • Experience with source testing and continuous emissions monitoring systems.
