This position provides epidemiologic support across the lead-related initiatives within the Lead and Other Hazards (LOH) Unit of the Division of Environmental Health (DEH). This position functions as an epidemiological and analytical resource relating to blood lead data collected within the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) as well as data stemming from lead-related services conducted or coordinated by the Division. This epidemiologist is responsible for conducting analyses in support of CLPPP and other DEH program, generating reports and answering data requests, and providing support for the management of data in data systems and databases. The position provides epidemiologic support to other activities and with regards to other environmental health hazards as requested.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a master\'s degree with a major in epidemiology or public health with a minimum of 8 semester (12 term) graduate-level hours in epidemiology and biostatistics courses.

Experience
Epidemiologist 10 - No specific type or amount is required.
Epidemiologist P11 - Two years of professional experience carrying out a variety of surveys, investigations, tests, and analyses of human disease and chronic health conditions, including one year equivalent to an Epidemiologist 10.

Alternate Education and Experience

Epidemiologist P11 - Possession of a doctorate degree in epidemiology may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Position Location/Remote Office: This position will work remotely. Occasional travel to the office located at 333 South Grand Ave, Lansing may be required. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
o A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
o A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
o Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
