Equipment Management Associate (weekend Overnight / Part Time 20 Hours)

Job Description


12 PM - 11PM weekends and holidaysUnder the general direction of the Equipment and Customer Services Supervisor and within established hospital and departmental guidelines, the Equipment Associate retrieves and cleans soiled patient equipment and maintains par levels for inpatient units or central equipment sites, including Main OR, PACU, SDSU, ED, etc.PRINCIPAL OPERATIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Rounds through responsible units or cluster throughout the day cleaning, checking and retrieving central equipment for redistribution.
  • Maintains par levels for designated areas of responsibility.
  • Installs or removes Balkan frames and Trapeze from patient beds.
  • Mixes special detergents and/or uses pre-mixed hospital approved solutions according to standard procedures for equipment cleaning.
  • Cleans equipment according to procedures.
  • Inspects cleaned equipment for frayed wires, broken parts and functionality.
  • Checks for compliance and attaches appropriate notification stickers and/or tags as required.
  • Scans cleaned equipment back into equipment inventory, using Equipment Tracking System
  • Promote confidentiality of information related to individual patients and patient care units.
  • Collect patient charge requisition slips from units for SCD compression sleeves/pnuemoboots.
  • Exercises appropriate body mechanics, care and caution when handling and delivering materials. Use delivery dolly to move supplies beween the delivery cart and stock room. Return the dolly to the dolly storage area at the end of your shift.
  • Exercise appropriate body mechanics when moving a cart. Whenever possible, push rather than pull the delivery carts. Do not use a broker cart, stop and ask for help to move the supplies to another cart. Tag the broken cart and notify your supervisor so the cart can be repaired.
  • As an equipment associate you will be trained on how to assemble Trapize.
  • Make sure units have sling/Hoyer lift.
  • Equipment is cleaned and serviced to ensure compliance with SMDA and JCAHO regulations.
QualificationsSKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Ability to work in a fast paced stressful environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, such as daily measurement/tracking reporting sheets.
  • Strong customer service skills and patience when dealing with our customers.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to use of department inventory systems and handheld devices.
  • Flexible, particularly in meeting scheduling needs.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable):N/AEDUCATION:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Standing/walking most of the 8-10 hours shift.
  • Lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs. under ideal safe lifting conditions as specified by NIOSH lifting equations.
  • Pushing/pulling force. 33 lbs. initial force 13 lbs. sustained force.
  • Some hazards associated with soiled linens and equipment.
