The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for an Equipment Operator Foreman 1 to help us
Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:
This position serves as station Foreman and Airport Manager and will be responsible for leading a team of equipment operators, establishing work schedules and priorities, inspecting, planning, implementing, and supervising all highway and airport assets to assure compliance with maintenance and operational standards; and recommending maintenance projects and determining maintenance needs to uphold DOT&PF and FAA standards. The incumbent will determine appropriate repair procedures, to include labor, equipment, materials, and techniques; and will review all proposed design plans for work on the highway and airport. This position serves as the Department\'s representative and primary point of contact for travelers using the roadway and aviation assets in the local area, as well as the primary liaison between DOT&PF and the city of Galena for matters concerning both the airport as well as joint maintenance of the road system.

Special Note:
This is journey level position and requires previous CDL level experience.

COMMERCIAL DRIVER\'S LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver\'s License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety-sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver\'s License (CDL) is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain an N-Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY
Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Driver\'s License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test. According to federal regulations, all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.

WORK EXPERIENCE
When utilizing work experience not already documented in your Applicant Profile, also provide the employer\'s name, your job title, dates of employment and whether full-time or part-time within your cover letter. EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required or is used as a substitution to meet the minimum qualifications, it is required to complete the Education section of your Profile. If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution.
