Position PurposeThe Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMTTA) functions as a technician within established competencies and scope of practice, supply aide, and unit clerk to support in the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department (ED). Incumbent works under the direct supervision of an Emergency Department physician, ED medical director, and EMTTP paramedic, in collaboration with a registered nurse.When functioning as a technician, incumbent will be asked to perform various technical procedures within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health in the ED.When functioning as a patient care provider in a team based-model with an ED physician (also known as Tech-ERP Workflow), incumbent will be performing various technical procedures and skills within established competencies and scope of practice (Emergency Medical Trauma Technician-Acute Care Technician Practice Guidelines) as approved by Renown Health in the ED.When functioning as a supply aide, incumbent is responsible to stock the ED with the required supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure safe, effective patient care.When functioning as a unit clerk, incumbent is responsible to perform clerical duties, function as unit receptionist, coordinate unit/patient schedules and activities, efficiently use the computer and telephone, and maintain an orderly and efficient nursexe2x80x99s station. Incumbent will interface with all guests, visitors, families, and patients arriving at, or calling the ED. The incumbent provides directions and information as well as making appropriate referrals.Nature and ScopeAs a member of the ED team, incumbent provides patient care utilizing technical skills within their competencies and Renown Health scope of practice. Incumbent communicates effectively with supervisors, other ED staff, physicians, and ancillary staff.The demands on this position are very dynamic due to rapid changes in medical procedures, technical knowledge, instrumentation, equipment, and policies and procedures.This position ensures that equipment is working properly before ED procedures, cares for equipment after procedure, and is responsible for reporting equipment that is not working properly or is broken. The position will also be responsible for transporting telemetry patients as well as receiving report from field emergency medical personnel. The position will be responsible for giving and receiving bedside hand-off report from and to registered nurses and emergency medical trauma technicians in transitioning patient care.This position provides patient care which will include physical assessment with documentation, BLS, ACLS, performs phlebotomy, medication administration, inserts peripheral IV access, and any skills within established competencies and scope of practice (Emergency Medical Trauma Technician-Acute Care Technician Practice Guidelines) as approved by Renown Health.Requires completion certificate of the Renown EKG interpretation class. Applicants with EKG experience may substitute a passing Renown EKG interpretation class final exam grade for the interpretation class.Requires the ability to perform a 12 lead EKG.Must have successfully passed the unit clerk skills checklist, the EMTTA skills checklist (including the medication administration grid), and the orderly skills checklist during orientation and annually maintain competencies based on scope of practice as verified through completion of Professional Development Day in the Emergency Department.Requires successful completion of trauma pathway.The incumbents are responsible for the safe application and maintenance of traction, orthopedic and DME equipment supplied in the department and in any patient care department. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patient served and meet standard of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards.Other related duties and flexible hours may be requested. This position has the freedom to rotate work areas and duties as needed and/or directed.Incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills any skills within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population served and meet standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards.1. Demonstrates behavior consistent with Renown Health Standards of Conduct.2. Demonstrates skills for performing technical duties any skills within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health that facilitate safe and effective patient care in the ED.3. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary health care team and with patients and families of differing socioeconomic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.4. Ability to take direction from professional staff.5. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills any skills within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health necessary to provide care, based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial and safety appropriate to the age of the patients served6. Demonstrates UC and computer skills after appropriate orientation.This position does provide patient care.As a patient care provider in the ED Team-Based Model, incumbent will be asked to perform various technical procedures and skills within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health in the ED. Incumbent will be working closely with an ED physician and a registered nurse or an Emergency Medical Trauma Technician-Basic or an Emergency Medical Trauma Technician-Paramedic in providing safe and age-specific appropriate patient care to the Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patient population. Requirements - Required and/or PreferredNameDescriptionEducation:Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.Experience:Six months Paramedic experience; six months Advanced EMT experience, or one year of experience as an emergency department technician preferred, or completion of the Renown Emergency Medic Intern Program.License(s):Current State of Nevada and National Registry of EMT-Advanced certification through the National Registry of EMT (NREMT) is required upon hire. NREMT certification must be in ACTIVE status within 90 days of hire.Certification(s):Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) standards required upon hire. Obtain and maintain ACLS certification by the AHA within 3 months of hire.Computer / Typing:Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
