Job Description

Northshire Bookstore is hiring an Events Coordinator based in our Manchester Center, Vermont location.

Responsibilities:

This individual reports to the Director of Events and is responsible for the effective execution and hosting of both author events and authorless events in our Manchester Center, Vermont store.

Additional responsibilities include:

-Local marketing, including distribution of print calendars, and weekly public relations outreach to Vermont-based media contacts

-Coordination of offsite selling opportunities for local organizations

-Conception, planning and execution of authorless events including story time, childrens events, book recommendation events and community outreach events

- Outreach to local schools for author visits and regular book sales

- Outreach to local event partners and marketing partners

-Coordination with design, marketing, and social media teams

-Capture, edit and post event videos

-Support Director of Events with routine administrative tasks including writing, proofreading, weekly events newsletters, website updates and more

-Occasional hosting or co-hosting and coordination of virtual author events and book recommendation events

-Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is highly organized, has great attention to detail, and is reliable, adaptable, proactive, independent, and friendly, with strong writing, proofreading and computer skills, and basic video capture & editing ability (iMovie).

-Bachelors degree preferred but not required

-Some event planning experience preferred but not required

-Genuine love of and enthusiasm for authors, books and the written word

-Comfort with times of heightened physical activity and the ability to lift at least 30 lbs and move large awkward objects

-High level of hospitality and customer service, and ability to interact warmly with a wide range of people

This position is FULL TIME in person in our Manchester Center, Vermont location. There is the opportunity for very limited remote work. This job involves a significant amount of night and weekend hours - most author events in this store take place on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. This job entails a varied schedule dependent on the event calendar.
