Job Description

This position is for an Executive Director for the Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors (The Board). This position will be responsible for providing the vision for and supervision of the board office as The Board and staff execute the policies of the Board and the statutes of Mississippi. In this administrative position, the Executive Director is responsible for recommending and implementing policies and procedures that support the mission of the Board. The Executive Director must provide leadership and guidance to the system and to work with the State Legislature, other state agencies, and national associations. Effective diplomacy, tact, and vision shall be employed by the Executive Director as the work of The Board is accomplished. The Executive Director\'s work is reviewed by The Board.

Assures compliance with Board, State, and Federal regulations.

Establishes timetables and agendas for Board regulatory functions.

Manages and administers fiscal/personnel aspects of Board operations.

Interacts with and maintains communications with other regulatory boards of similar areas of responsibility.

Compiles and submits required reports to regulatory agencies.

Engages and participates with National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES). Experience/Educational Requirements:

Education:
A Bachelor\'s Degree from an accredited college or university in business or a related field;

AND

Experience:
Five (5) years of fiscal and personnel management experience.

Substitution Statement:
Experience may be substituted for education at the Board\'s discretion.

Note:
Evidence of leadership and engagement of others at regional, state, or national levels; Solid record of successful experience in similar environments. Strong communication and people skills.

Maintains a secure, confidential file storage and retrieval system for the licensees\' records. These records may include but are not limited to applications, renewals, and disciplinary actions.

Oversees licensure applications, qualifications determinations, testing, issuances and renewal procedures.

Provides a contact for information concerning The Board laws and regulatory requirements to meets those laws.

Compiles fiscal budget for the Board and presents to the Mississippi Legislature (Legislature) with justifications necessary for review and approval.

Represents the Board and its licensees to the Legislature and the Board\'s professional community as required.
