Norwalk Hospital, part of Nuvance Health is seeking an experienced full-time Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our long-established teaching Surgical PA Residency program and growing Surgical Advanced Practitioner Service at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. Norwalk Hospital is located about 50 miles outside of New York City in lower Fairfield County Connecticut. This is a great opportunity to have an active role supervising our Surgical Residents and work on the floors. Physician Assistant candidates can also assist in the OR across a wide range of surgical sub-specialties.

This is an employed position with Nuvance Health Medical Practice. We offer a competitive compensation package, including comprehensive benefits as well as allowances for CMEs and Dues expenses.

Surgical service coverage includes general surgery in addition to Thoracic, Vascular, Urology, Colorectal, Bariatrics, Plastic & Reconstructive surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Gynecological surgery, and the SICU. Specific responsibilities include:

\xc2\xb7 History and physical examinations

\xc2\xb7 Pre- and post-operative care of patients

\xc2\xb7 Active participation on the trauma team

\xc2\xb7 Participation in the education and hands-on training of PA residents and PA students and medical students during surgical rotations at Norwalk Hospital

\xc2\xb7 OR assisting

Norwalk Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, is accredited as a Stroke Center and certified to provide Emergency Angioplasty for heart attack. Established in 1893, Norwalk Hospital is a 366 bed, not-for-profit community hospital providing Fairfield and Westchester County residents convenient access to exceptional care, close to home. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with Yale University School of Medicine, University of Vermont College of Medicine, American University of the Caribbean and Ross University School of Medicine.

Job Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 Baccalaureate degree.

\xc2\xb7 Graduate of an approved PA Program and a post-graduate training program in surgery or at least one year surgical or equivalent work experience.

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of surgical critical care, preferred.

\xc2\xb7 Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

\xc2\xb7 Physician Assistant licensure

\xc2\xb7 CT State Controlled Substance and Federal DEA Registration.

\xc2\xb7 ACLS & BLS certification are required.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to work 40 control hours. Hours are 7:30 am \xe2\x80\x93 4 pm Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday. No nights, weekends or call.
