Location: Detroit - Headquarter - Walker Cisler BuildingBidding Restriction: 1 YearHybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.Job SummaryProvides expertise and guidance on legal services in matters of complexity, sensitivity, and significant financial impact to the company. Serves as expert with in-depth legal skills in one or more specialized areas. Leads others in legal projects and mentors other attorneys and legal staff. Represents company interests in formal and informal legal proceedings, including federal, state or local judicial, or dispute resolution processes. Span of control: 0; individual contributor.Key Accountabilitiessensitive, and/or financially significant legal matters and ensures resolution in an efficient manner * Researches legal principles and precedents, including consulting with outside legal counsel

  • Anticipates significant legal issues in practice area of expertise and develops innovative legal solutions that support business objectives
  • Drafts and executes legal documents, including gathering relevant information using multiple sources and methods
  • Develops legal resolutions with business problems in one or more specialized areas of legal practice
  • Provides expert guidance and work instructions to other professional, paraprofessional, and staff
  • Works without supervision and collaborates with all levels of internal clients
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited law school and admitted to the bar in employee's state of residence
  • 10 years of legal experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working on transactional/corporate legal matters.
  • Experience with procurement contracts and complex transactions (mergers/acquisitions or joint ventures), as well as other types of business transactions (e.g., real estate or construction).
  • Experience working with renewable energy transactions.
  • Experience in energy industry
