We are seeking an External Communications Manager. (Prefer candidates in Austin, Texas or Jacksonville Beach, Florida.) In this role, you will be responsible for leading and implementing the company\xe2\x80\x99s external communications team, whose responsibilities include traditional and social media, and crisis communications. Your Impact

• Develop and implement external communications plans aligned with business objectives to advance company\xe2\x80\x99s positioning and expand impact with key audiences and thought leaders through various channels.
• Serve as the primary point person for the management and implementation of the company\xe2\x80\x99s traditional media relations strategy, including both proactive and reactive opportunities.
• Create consistent and integrated messaging, talking points and spokesperson briefing materials, write and/or edit news releases and external Q&A.
• Measure and analyze media relations initiatives to continue to sharpen and refine messaging and tactics.
• Collaborate with External Communications Team members on developing and implementing paid and organic social media strategies to reach target audiences; with hands-on support as needed including researching, drafting, editing and publishing creative content; in addition to implementing relevant paid strategies.
• Lead crisis communications management, including proactive preparedness, messaging creation during issues; and media management during incidents that have the potential to damage the company\xe2\x80\x99s brand and reputation.

Minimum Qualifications

• \xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8bBachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related field
• 8+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in corporate communications or at a PR agency or similar
• Demonstrated ability to direct corporate media relations, including direct experience working with print, broadcast, digital and trade media
• Experience managing crisis communications and media response
• Strategic thinker with a keen awareness of current affairs/news trends with the ability to prioritize and synthesize data; agile and adaptable
• Proven ability to drive message consistency and alignment with regional and national communications
• Experience representing company as the face of the brand, managing customer service inquiries and issues on various social media platforms preferred
• Hands-on social media planning, engagement and monitoring experience on various platforms

• Excellent writing, proofing and editorial skills. Fluent in AP Style
• Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to prioritize projects according to enterprise objectives, while exhibiting flexibility in a fast-paced, often pressured environment
• Ability to build effective relationships as a trusted communications advisor and to partner with employees at all levels
• Capable of understanding perspectives of multiple audiences and able to develop content focused on the specific needs of each audience
