Well established, reputable and growing manufacturer is looking for a promotable Fabrication Manager in the Monroe, NC area.

This is not a hybrid or remote position, candidates will need to be able to work 100% of their time in a manufacturing plant.

This role comes with a very competitive compensation plan commensurate with experience with a base salary ranging from $110k to $125k plus an annual bonus and relocation assistance.

The ideal candidate will possess fabrication experience with a focus on sheet metal, milling, turning, welding, grinding, cutting or heat treat.

responsibilities:
Position Overview: The Fabrication Manager is responsible for all machine shop operations. This position schedules shift operations and staffing to achieve production requirements. The Fabrication Manager is responsible for safety, quality, efficiency, and employee relations of the department. This role communicates activities with appropriate staff and other shift personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to and informs the Plant Manager of all shift activities relating to the fabrication and execution of scheduled production needs.
  • Responsible for meeting operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory, as well as other key business metrics within their influence at the plant
  • Manages activities of machine shop department personnel. Duties include but are not limited to scheduling machine/work assignments and hours of work, training, associate performance reviews and communication.
  • Review quality of all shift operations and take required action to conform to quality standards or cease operations pending resolution of problem.
  • Achieve efficiency requirements by monitoring efficiency reports and productivity of shift personnel and equipment taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Develop and maintain sound employee relations through fair and consistent administration of all duties and responsibilities.
  • Keep current with technology and legal requirements by attending seminars, reading appropriate literature and other means as appropriate.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining departmental expense budgets.
  • Determine capital equipment needs and assist with budgeting process.
  • Recommends research to update inspection and testing techniques, instrumentation, and correlation of inspection and testing results with manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other leaders to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Demonstrated ability in using Lean manufacturing tools and processes to drive continuous improvement across complex organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience in ERP systems.
  • Experienced in performance management and possesses the skills to coach, guide, and influence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate\'s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; Bachelor\'s degree strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing/fabrication based leadership experience.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Must possess technical skills such as: blueprint reading, work measurement, and using precision measuring instruments. Good organizational, planning, and communication skills required.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing preferred.
