Job Description

Since 1928 Noroton Yacht Club has been one of the premier sailing Clubs in the Northeast. Our fleets include Sonars, Vipers, Ideal 18's and Sunfish as well as a Cruising fleet. As a family-oriented yacht Club, Noroton is a place where members, their children, and grandchildren form lifelong friendships. The mission of Noroton Yacht Club is to create and foster a lifelong love of the sport of sailing.

Noroton Yacht Club's facility operations include the club house, sailing operations, the waterfront, the Mooring Business, tennis courts and rental property. The Facilities Manager will be a core member of the senior staff at NYC. He/she will work at the direction of the General Manager in managing the club's facilities and will support the Director of Sailing and Waterfront to help facilitate all aspects of Sailing and the Waterfront. They will partner with all team members to ensure Club and Mooring operations are run efficiently, safely and professionally.

Noroton Yacht Club's staff is a small team dedicated to the Club's mission of creating lifelong sailors, supporting our members, and ensuring their quality membership experience. Our senior staff is required to support our culture of teamwork and leading by example. All staff will be cross-trained to support all areas of Club operations and will be flexible in supporting priorities as needed.

Job Responsibilities



House and Grounds Responsibilities:

all the services and equipment that keep the clubhouse, grounds, beaches, parking lots, waterfront, tennis hut and courts in pristine operating and physical condition.

Ensure all club services and utilities are managed and maintained. Build relationships with vendors for scheduling routine maintenance and emergencies. Will be the point of contact when they are on the grounds.

Winterizes and re-commissions clubhouse, grounds, tennis hut and waterfront facilities.

Ensures that all club facilities meet OSHA government safety regulations, environmental regulations, health department regulations and fire codes.

Responsible for maintaining club equipment and having foresight of replacement needs to ensure proper club spending.

Assist in club operations to include but not limited to; proper opening and closing of the club, Storm preparation, event set up and break down, oversee garbage and recycling.

Provides the General Manager and House Chairman with a detailed annual report and budget in November for short- and long-term maintenance planning and improvements. Monitors compliance with the approved budget.

Waterfront Responsibilities:



Mooring Business: Manage the Mooring business and assist with all mooring work from maintenance, inspections, winter sticking, and barge overhaul projects;

Operate all Club vessels from the Committee Boat (Volunteer), mark boats, launches, coach boats, ribs, whalers, etc.;

Regularly inspect and repair all docks, gangways, connections, plumbing, hoses and nozzles;

Manage outboard and diesel engine routine maintenance, winterization, troubleshooting, and repair;

Support hauling and launching of Club owned and member owned boats;

Manage Commissioning and Decommissioning waterfront facilities, including shrink wrap operations;

Assist the Waterfront Team with all programs including, Jr. Sailing, Sunbusters, Race Committee, Paddle Boarding, and other events centered on watersports year round;

Assist with preparations of all Race Committee vessels for Beer Can racing, regattas, and weekend fleet racing;

Assist launch operations, conduct man overboard drills, and safety checks;

Skills/Requirements



Maintain a customer/Member focus;

Work effectively as a team across all of Noroton's operations;

Maintain excellent customer-facing skills and attitude;

Ability to operate power tools, skill saws, table saws, air tools, etc.;

Ability to troubleshoot engine issues;

Basic carpentry skills;

Shrink wrap experience a plus;

Ability to lift 50 pounds;

Knowledge of basic marine knots;

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite;

CERTIFICATIONS:

Limited Masters License

Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate

First Aid and CPR Certificates

*Pay is commensurate with experience.
